This job is open to Bangladesh nationals with the following skills and qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Masters in Fisheries.
  • Strong leadership and facilitation skills and ability to transform it into action.
  • Working experience with government’s fisheries departments, private sectors actors and local government (Union Parishads). Ability to maintain liaison with GoB, University, Research Organization and PNGOs.Considerable knowledge on the country fisheries development and food policy and GoB initiatives in addressing food insecurity.
  • Considerable technical knowledge and experience in understanding and grasping technical needs of PNGOs and community in the areas of livelihoods and food security
  • Experience in developing strategies for capacity building of technical staff and beneficiaries.
  • Good linkages and network with different training and research institutes and individuals at the regional and national level for technical and training support to the program
  • Good understanding about fisheries value chain and other services, and private sector engagement to improve livelihood of vulnerable populations of the country engaging in fisheries activities
  • Experience in preparation of program budget, expenditure analysis and progress reports.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Bangla.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Demonstrate WorldFish values.

  • 5 years working experience in the areas of Fisheries sector development programs. For the highly deserving candidates this may be relaxed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Committed and motivated.

Salary and Benefits

This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with annual salary ranging between BDT 950,000 – BDT 1000, 000 per annum. WorldFish's NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension / provident fund contribution.

Our offer

This position will be based at WorldFish’s country office in Bandarban, Bangladesh with extensive field visit. Interviews are expected to be held in this month or the following month of September. Only shortlisted candidate will be notified and expected to attend the interview.
The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible for an initial 1 year(s) fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding situation.

Technical Officer – Fisheries (1 Position)


The overall responsibilities of this position are to “provide overall technical guidance to WorldFish Bangladesh and Implementing Partner NGOs related to fisheries and other interventions”. The incumbent will require to implementing the project activities in the field level of SAPLING Project

Key Responsibilities

Conduct aquaculture and fisheries training for trainers (ToT) to develop technical capacity of project implementing partner NGOs staffs/ community volunteers for dissemination of appropriate technologies.
Develop technology specific training manual and related training materials.
Arrange coaching and follow-up sessions for the respective stakeholders.
Conduct rapid assessment of fisheries resources for potentials technical interventions and mapping of market actors to benefit beneficiaries’ households.
Monitoring and Evaluate the impact of fisheries activities on beneficiaries.
Draft terminal reports (quarterly and, annual), write case studies, process documentation of issues and events.
Collect related data, data analysis and prepare reports.
