  • Experience in project management and implementation in the field of Disaster Management, team work facilitation, program monitoring, budget preparation, work plan preparation, report preparation and analysis, coordination and problem solving.
  • The candidate should have good command in English language (both written and verbal communication) and knowledge of different computer packages.
  • Minimum 2 years of working experience in urban Disaster Risk Reduction field and/or as Manager/Coordinator in any project.
  • Good understanding on DRR policies and instruments of the countries.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to address issues and effect change effectively
  • Sound understanding on child protection and gender
  • Be accountable for behaving with others, efficient uses of resources

Job Description / Responsibility

Population Services and Training Center (PSTC) has been implementing the project, ECHO-HIP , with the support of Plan International Bangladesh which aims to strengthening urban resilience through enhanced preparedness and evidence based advocacy for improved multi-level co-ordination mechanisms in 04 wards of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area. Project implementation in the field of disaster, advocacy with stakeholders, training facilitation activities, Liaison with government and participate in most of the advocacy dialogue, meeting and prepare report at organizational level of the project.
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring of the activities at the project site. One of the major challenges of the Project coordinator is to ensure qualitative project implementation in line with project output/outcomes and efficient resources management. Also, s/he should involve the community level planning and implementation of this project. S/he will also be responsible for the management of field office, finance and administration, supervision of staff and coordination with Dhaka South City Corporation. S/he will have to take special initiative to mainstream the theme of equity & inclusion, disability and gender in project implementation.
As a Project Coordinator, S/he will be responsible for planning, designing, implementingand monitoring of ECHO-HIP project.
S/he will be responsible for the area of Dhaka South City Corporation to maintain close networking, linkage, collaboration and communication with community, local government, local administration and other stakeholder of the project.
S/he will responsible for communities, private and public institutions are better prepared to address urban disaster risks through capacity building, improved coordination and development/implementation of gender sensitive action plans.
S/he will responsible for Ward Disaster Management Committees (WDMC) are functional.
S/he will responsible for Knowledge management mechanisms are enhanced to improve co-ordination and response capacity amongst preparedness and response stakeholders.
S/he will be responsible for facilitation on better preparednessurban disaster risks through capacity building in the project area by DSCC, Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD), Ministry of Education (MoE) , WDMC and Disaster Management Committees (DMCs);
S/he will responsible for Ministry of Education (MoE) endorses Framework for DRR in Education and Emergency in Education (EiE).
S/he will take lead to train health workers from the targeted hospitals on mass causality management using guidelines developed under earlier ECHO actions.
S/he will be able to facilitate the endorsement of Framework for DRR in Education and EiE; initiation of reviewed national earthquake contingency plan; increasing zonal/ward level coordination for disaster preparedness; contribution of resources for RRAP/SLIP actions by private sector and incorporation of ward contingency plan actions into CC annual plan.
S/he will be responsible to organize and facilitate training for Dhaka South City Corporation and its different wards on Community Based Disaster Preparedness (CBDP) and Risk Reduction Action Plan (RRAP).
S/he has to support the consortium initiative to develop produce materials for advocacy, communication and media purposes
S/he has to ensure collection and submission of case studies, best practices and all kind of activity reports to Plan International Bangladesh.
S/he will be responsible to facilitate any visit by Save the Children, Plan International Bangladesh, NARRI consortium and ECHO.
S/he has to monitor the financial process and progress of the project and report periodically to Plan Int. Bangladesh.
S/he will be ensuring the visibility the project according to the guideline from Plan Int. Bangladesh and donor.
S/he will be responsible as a lead for staff supervision and team building.
