Salary Range
    This is a Nationally Recruited Non-Regular Staff (NRS) position with monthly salary BDT 54,000 based on qualification and experience.

Job Context

Background: Suchana is a multi-sectorial nutrition program aiming to reduce stunting amongst children less than 2 years of age significantly by catalyzing support across government and others. Better nutrition through improved economic status of the target group is one of the objectives of Suchana program. In order to achieve this objective, WorldFish has developed an implementation plan of fisheries component along with other potential home food production (HFP) of vegetable and IGA opportunities to increase diversity of food and income. Particularly for fisheries relevant home food production (HFP) and IGA intervention success largely depends on improving technical capacity of the participating beneficiary households and their access to quality inputs in time.
Suchana is working in Sylhet and Moulvibazar district with targeting 250,000 very poor beneficiaries households (BHHs). Out of 250,000 BHHs, 125,000 BHHs will have fisheries and horticulture training and inputs support throughout the project life from WorldFish.
Sylhet is one of the leading regions for inland captured fisheries in the country. Lots of river, canals, haors, beels and floodplains are available there. Besides the captured fisheries, there are also large number of ponds and other water bodies for culturing the fishes.
Our Offer:
This position will be based at WorldFish Bangladesh office in Sylhet . Interviews are expected to be held in targeted date or month of interview. Only shortlisted candidate will be notified and expected to attend the interview.
The successful candidate should be available to commence as soon as possible for an initial 1 year(s) fixed term contract, with the possibility of contract renewal depending on performance and funding situation.

Job Description / Responsibility

Incumbent will be expected to travel frequently and working in villages with project HFP-Poultry beneficiaries/, Suchana coalition partners staffs and other stakeholders including HKI, DLS, BLRI, union parishad and market actors maintaining close coordination and integration.
Actively participate in situation appraisal on small scale poultry keeping by the very poor households for nutrition and income.
Develop and dissemination of improved small scale poultry keeping technologies and varieties, quality inputs allocated to the selected beneficiaries through GO-NGO-Private sectors including union parishad partnership in respective villages of selected unions of the upazilas of WorldFish responsibilities.
Plan and implement Poultry activities including training, coaching, refreshers training, input distribution, and linkage beneficiaries with local vaccinators. Prepare monthly and annual work plans and budgets of the upazilas.
Coordinate with HKI on technical ground.
Assist District Fisheries Specialist developing & implementing activities plan, prepare reports in line with project and donor requirements and WorldFish regulations and maintain budgetary control of expenditure, and prepare basic financial reports for the respective district.
Support Suchana team to perform overall program including Gender, Nutrition, Environment and Monitoring & Evaluation and administrative functions of the project.
Represent WorldFish in upazila level management/implementation committee and as required. Ensure timely and through communication with coalition partners, government agencies, NGOs, farmers association, private sectors and clients as and when required to achieve targets on time.
This job is open to Bangladesh nationals with the following skills and qualifications:
Capable of managing project including project planning, implementation, writing case study, report and excellent communication skills in English and Bengali.
Ability to prepare project budget, monitor cost, training material and other demonstration materials and basic reporting.
Ability to think clearly and analytically, setting priority, meeting deadlines, solving problems and making decision timely.
Significant experiences in negotiating and managing public and private partners.
Strong in essential computer pakages like MS word, MS excel, MS power pont and internet etc
Ability to work with minimum supervision consistently approaches work with positive attitude.
Ability to adapt and work with all culture, gender, religion, race, nationality and age.
Sound technical knowledge and experiences on fisheries and aquaculture participatory adaptive research, extension and training.
Ability to work with collaborative environment.
