Requirement:
  • 5+ years work experience in public relations, public affairs, media relations, journalism; previous experience with a private sector company or multilateral financial institution a plus.
  • Proven ability to conceptualize, design and implement communications strategies, campaigns or programs.
  • Knowledge of national/international trends, demonstrated political awareness and ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences and cultivate effective, productive client relationships/partnerships.
  • Self-motivated, creative, excellent organizational skills, proven ability to perform multiple tasks, and ability to work with both internal and external constituencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a willingness to work in a team environment. Proven experience in working as both a leader and a member of a team.
  • Strong inter-personal skills to engage with internal experts and external media
  • Excellent English writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Bengali.
  • Exceptional ability to write, communicate, operate under pressure and tight deadlines with accuracy and professionalism.

Job Context

The Communications Officer will be based in IFC`s office in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He/she will report to the Country Manager for Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, based in Dhaka, and to the Regional Communications Head based in New Delhi, India.-

Job Description / Responsibility

The Communications Officer will work closely with the project teams to enable IFC's work across the country. The position will require close collaboration with IFC's regional communications team and with partners in the wider World Bank Group, as well as private sector companies, international organizations and civil society across Bangladesh.
