British Council invites applications for the position of Communications Officer

Role Purpose

To tell the story of the British Council’s work in Bangladesh to its intended audiences using the most effective and impactful approaches and platforms

Main duties, accountabilities and responsibilities

The post holder will report to Communications Manager. S/he will work closely with the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Focal Points to support the overall country Marketing and Communications objectives. Key areas include

To execute agreed elements of the integrated marketing and communications strategy and related internal and external communication plans
To identify target audiences and stakeholder groups as agreed, selecting appropriate communications channels and maintaining consistency of messaging
Create and review content for communication campaigns, social media channels, website, e-newsletter, internal communication channels, press and various print and publications materials. This includes copy-writing, translation and content editing support for all internal and external communications including promotional materials and digital content
Support the Communications Manager in the design and delivery of the media relations strategy. Assist in generating media coverage, handling press enquiries and supporting and building relationships with leading media houses and journalists from electronic, radio, print and online media
Assist in drafting corporate press statements, media FAQs and guide staff on media interviews
Co-ordinate the generation of high quality stories, case studies and images which demonstrate the British Council’s impact and ensure they reach our target audiences both internally and externally through planned media campaigns
Assist the Communications Manager in implementing the internal communications and knowledge sharing strategy and maintaining the country profile by delivering a range of internal communications tasks. Collate and review internal communications content, promote blogs, best practice and impact stories on a range of platforms – South Asia intranet, corporate bulletin, global event grids and marketing and communications network
