National Child Protection Manager

British Council invites applications for the position of National Child Protection Manager

 

Role Purpose

To provide leadership and guidance in Bangladesh on the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the British Council Child Safe programme according to the British Council Child Protection policy and in line with Bangladesh legislation. We recognise that the care and welfare of children is paramount and that all children have the right to protection from all types of abuse therefore this role plays an extremely important part in our Bangladesh operations.

Main duties, accountabilities and responsibilities

To act as the first contact person on Child Protection issues, while overall accountability sits with the Country Director
To design and deliver child protection training and share knowledge with British Council staff, partners, invigilators, consultants, temporary staff, security guards etc to improve Child Protection awareness, skills and consistent engagement
To lead and ensure effective internal network coordination to aid a consistent organisational approach to child safeguarding: lead the National Child Protection Working Group
To gather information and communicate key messages on child protection to raise staff and customer awareness and to promote our organisational commitment to keeping children safe
To timely complete and lead on the implementation and monitoring of the Bangladesh Child Safe Action Plan, Self-Audit and the corporate Child Protection standards
To support and advise senior managers on Child Protection when an incident occurs and liaise with the Global Child Protection Team in line with our Corporate Response Plan and incident management processes
To lead and ensure effective internal network coordination to aid a consistent organisational approach to child safeguarding: lead the National Child Protection Working Group
To establish and nurture partnerships with external agencies such as: Save the Children, UNICEF, World Vision, Aporajayo Bangladesh, Justice & Care and other NGOs
