Study and Job Summary:
Johns Hopkins University, USA has a long and illustrious history of conducting research in Bangladesh. JHU`s research has contributed to improvements of health of Bangladeshi citizens and has supported the career development of numerous Bangladeshi public health professionals. The university is now registered in Bangladesh as an international NGO known as Johns Hopkins University - Bangladesh (JHU-B). JHU-B`s Projahnmo Project is seeking qualified and motivated applicants from Bangladeshi nationals for the position of Study Manager of a multi-country, multi-center, two-arm, parallel, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized trial of antenatal corticosteroids for women at risk of imminent birth in the early and late preterm period in health facilities in low-resource settings to improve newborn outcomes. In short the study is known as Antenatal Corticosteroids for Improving Outcomes in preterm Newborns (ACTION) trial. The study will be implemented in six research sites of five countries of Asia and Africa, coordinated by the World Health Organization. In Bangladesh, the study will be implemented at six hospitals located in Dhaka and Sylhet.
The Study Manager will be primarily responsible for planning and timely and quality implementation of the ACTION trial under the supervision of the Director-Research, JHU-B Projahnmo. S/he will be responsible for study related communications with all six hospital authorities (Co-Investigators), developing work plan, ensuring adequate implementation, preparing study reports, identify implementation challenges, potential solutions and communication with study PIs, other investigators and donor. S/he will be also responsible for administrative management of staff and resources. S/he ensures effective and efficient use of project`s resources and materials.
Reporting: Directly reports to Director - Research of JHUB
Working Condition: The position is based at JHUB Dhaka Office with extensive visits (70%)in study hospitals in both Dhaka and Sylhet
