  • Experience of working in remote community settings will be treated is an advantage
  • Know Braille and or sign language would be an advantage
  • Human Resource management, conflict management, and capacity building skills
  • Experience of team work, particularly working with multi-cultural and/or pluri-disciplinary teams
  • Good oral and written communication skills in Bengali and English
  • Decision-making, critical thinking, organisational and problem solving skills, adaptability and stress management.
  • Advanced computing skills in MS Office
  • At least two years experience in inclusive education in mainstreaming schools
  • Desirable:
  • Experience working with children on child protection and gender based violence issues.

Job Context

Handicap International implementing a project entitled "Growing Together" with the objective to engage children in promoting disability inclusion and a culture of safety through creative ways and build capacities of childcare service providers to be more responsive of their specific needs. The project will provide quality skills training and awareness to parents/caregivers of vulnerable children, local service providers, INGOs, Community-Based Organizations and Camp Committees in order to children with disabilities and vulnerable children`s lives opportunities and to foster social links and cohesion among communities in a sustainable and resilient way.

Job Description / Responsibility

Overall Objective Of The Job: Support the Project Manager and Inclusion Officer in effective and efficient implementation of the activities related to Inclusive Education in mainstreaming schools. She/he will be responsible for certain number of schools to ensure that inclusive education activities are strengthen in the school. Be in charge of the assessment, monitoring and reporting processes of the schools.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibility 1: Implementation of Inclusive education activities of the project
Support the schools' management staffs in preparing inclusive education plans;
Support the Teachers to prepare the Individual Learning plan for child with disability and children with disability.
Support the schools to arrange awareness raising among the children and parents to remove stigma and bad attitude against the child with disability in the schools.
Support to create Buddy system among children to support the children with disabilities.
Build the capacities of the schools' teachers on how to deal with children with special needs;
Support the schools to create a positive and friendly environment for child with disabilities and special needs
Provide on-the-job support to the teachers on inclusive teachers' techniques;
Support the schools' teachers in conducting assessment of the students with special needs, in preparing and following-up Individual Education plans for children with disabilities;
Revise the ILP and prepare new plan for some frequency of time.
Support the schools in establishing education corners for children with special needs.
Support the school management and teachers to identify children who needs support and to refer.
Responsibility 2: Assessment, Monitoring and Reporting
Collect the information and consolidate needs assessment report from the schools;
Carry out regular field monitoring visits to different schools aiming at improving performance of the teachers, tracking activities' progress, quality achievement, and sustainability of the inclusive education activities;
Support external visits, evaluation studies during field visits with schools;
Maintain an accurate database, updated on a monthly basis;
Gather other information and evidences as and when required;
Prepare monthly, quarterly, half yearly, annual and project completion report from the schools, analysing data and providing recommendations;
Actively participate to the project's monthly and quarterly review meetings - share progresses, lessons learnt and challenges.
Responsibility 3: Support with Partnership Management
Ensure regular coordination meetings with the Schools' management committees;
Closely monitor the technical qualities of the Inclusive education activities implemented in the schools and provide suggestions to teachers and schools' management committees for necessary improvements;
Support the development capacities of the partners' staff on inclusive education
Responsibility 4: Documentation including Database management and Capitalization
Identification of success stories for case studies;
Gather / review case studies, good practices, lessons learnt from the partners and submit it to the supervisor;
Support the partner in documenting success stories, best practices, beneficiary profiles etc in line with HI's capitalization practices and in coordination with the Project team.
Responsibility 5: Support the coordination with HI Departments and among the project team
Coordinate and collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ease the implementation process of the project;
Support the inclusion officer and the project manager in developing external networks and coordinating with other relevant project actors, ensuring to create added value for the project activities;
Ensure roll out of the PSEA (Protection of beneficiaries from sexual exploitation and abuse) and Child Protection Policy of Handicap International across the project area;
Support the inclusion officer and the project manager in coordinating, networking and advocating with relevant stakeholders (GOs/ NGOs etc.).
Others responsibility:
Provide individual support to HI other project members upon need and request in consultation with the inclusion officer;
Promote and maintain effective communication with HI Bangladesh team and partners;
Represent HI upon delegation of the Project Manager in different events;
Any other duty at the service of the project and the organization, as requested by the Inclusion Officer or the Project Manager
