The ideal person should have Master degree preferably in Disaster Management/Development Studies/ Economics/ Social Science/ Statistics/ Geography with 3-5 years working experience including 2-3 years in managerial position of disaster response, preferably with a Development Organization, working with low income people
- Fundamental understanding of low cost housing techniques
- Should be capable of leading and managing a wide range of staff
- Should have sound knowledge in strategic decision making
- Good command on project planning and budgeting
- Advance skills in MS Office software
- Excellent communication skill both spoken & written in English & Bengali
- High moral character with integrity and honesty
- Capacity to handle multi tasks & prioritize job responsibilities;
Salary and Benefits: Approximately Taka 60,000 per month and other regular benefits as per organizational policy.

Habitat for Humanity International (“HFHI”) is a non-profit ecumenical Christian organisation dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and homelessness worldwide and to making adequate, affordable shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity is founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, decent, affordable place to live in dignity and safety. Habitat for Humanity Bangladesh (HFHB) is a relativity small operation dedicated to the eradication of substandard housing and homelessness in Bangladesh. HFHB is currently looking for interested and qualified candidates for the following position.
Program Manager-DR3 & CCA (Based in Dhaka)
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsible for overall implementation and management of DR3 & CCA projects within the constraints of the projects along with managing and directing the resources with fullest efficiency to best meet project objectives under the guidance of Senior Manager – Program Implementation and Innovation (SM-PI&I).
Strengthen HFH-B’s readiness to respond disasters which includes development and implementation of Disaster Response Contingency Plan.
Prepare the detailed project implementation plan (PIP) for respective projects and ensure approval from SMPI&I.
Ensure project activities comply with the policies and regulations of HFHI-B and donor organizations as specified in grant agreements and trouble shoots project problems identifying and implementing creative solutions.
Responsible for identifying, monitoring, and responding to risks related with project management.
Review and endorse the beneficiaries’ selection and put final recommendation for SMPI&I’s approval.
Develop DR3 & CCA related projects, strategic plans, policies and standard operating procedures under the guidance of SM-PI&I.
Strengthening of DR3 and CCA capacity of HFHI-B and its partner organizations
Integrating DR3 and CCA approaches tools and practices into HFHI-B’s regular projects and programs.
Works closely with HFHI AP related entities and partners to conduct assessments in support of conceptualization and design of DRR, mitigation and CCA interventions.
Ensure that HFHI-B’s housing projects adheres adequate disaster resilience approach and quality standards considering national building codes and international practices.
Facilitates communication and knowledge sharing with DR3 and CCA agencies in Bangladesh.
Designs, promotes, facilitates and participates in DRR, mitigation and CCA training activities to increase capacity of HFHI-B’s staff and partners.
Engage and connect HFHI-B to peer agencies and networks (internal and external) authorities.
Support SM-PI&I to ensure issues related to DRR, mitigation and CCA activities are integrated and addressed in HFHI-B’s strategies and plans.
Actively participate in AP DR³ Community of Practice.
Manage the provision of disaster management and emergency preparedness training to HFHIB staff, strategic partners and potential partners and ensure the provision of professional and responsive advice in the field of disaster management.
Keep constant 24 hour vigilance on current weather conditions throughout the country, from media, partners, and other sources, to communicate to SM-PI&I and affected staff/ areas in order to respond at a moment’s notice.
Contact and coordinate other NGO’s, local/international organizations who have DR3 and CCA programs to find ways that HFHI-B can collaborate with their existing disaster response programs and bring recommendation to SM-PI&I.
Identify or arrange local events, initiatives, forums and other opportunities to collect and share learning, including advocacy, research or coordination initiatives where appropriate.
Develop and monitor a disaster response matrix for staff and volunteers to build overall capacity.
Establish links with grassroots organizations in flood/disaster prone areas.
Develop a good dialog and communication with the team members to insure a healthy working environment with good relationships and motivate staff to contribution their best for achievement of desired outcomes and facilitate strong communications between urban team and senior management.
Collect metrics data and produce and prepare periodic project progress reports, activity reports and other relevant documents linked to projects for SMPI&I.
Facilitate research and data collection to discover links between needs to design initiatives to reflect broader community, sector and societal impact in order to attract diverse project funding.
Arrange personal travel to attend forums, meetings and to field locations as necessary.
Contribute to the design of the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) framework and the method for the collection of learning.
Support the RD & Communication team providing data/information, case stories and best practices to develop communication materials and promotional items to attract and sustain funding for the program.
Support in new project development as well as helping to ensure projects are designed based on needs and strategic plan to build community, sector and societal impact.
